Trend Alert: Bohemian Lux

I recently decided to start creating moodboards. It’s a relaxing project for me to do in my down time and I am able to satisfy my desire to decorate and redecorate without having to spend any money. That’s always a plus!

Good Eats: Sausage and Cheese Quiche

After eating a breakfast of sticky icky bacon and chocolate chip banana bread, I decided to whip up a quick quiche so that I’d have something to munch on while downing mimosas. What’s a snow day without mimosas? It’s boring. That’s what it is – boring.

How to have a Stella-r Snow Day

At long last, we have been blessed with the possibility of an actual snowstorm- Snowstorm Stella.  Winter 2016/2017 has been one of the mildest winters on record, but alas! March 2017 is proving to be the most fickle month ever. I have become accustomed to not putting too much faith into previous winter’s behavior. Every year we get hotter and hotter and the seasons become less and less. Soon, Maryland will just be Summer and Winter. It was in the 60s and 70s for the majority of February. It was in the 70s just last week and now, tomorrow, we are expecting a snowstorm that will bring anywhere from 3-5″, 6-9″, or my personal favorite 8-12″. Either way, I will not have work tomorrow. With it forecasted to snow all night and for the majority of the working day tomorrow, most schools and businesses will be closed. That is really all I wanted. No one should have to go through an entire winter without at least one snow day. Otherwise, what’s the point of winter without snow?

Perpetual WCW, Rihanna, Takes a Solo Flight in Harper’s Bazaar

Looks like I have to pick up a copy of the March Harper’s Bazaar next time I go to Target. Which, honestly, will probably be today despite the fact that I went there last night.

Elie Saab Spring 2017 Couture

With the Oscars right around the corner, it seems fitting that we explore the lovely gowns gracing the catwalks. Royal blue. Gilded crown gold. The collection’s sleek silhouettes, prim hemlines, and satiny textures is very Jackie O. meets Cleopatra. One can only hope someone, somewhere graces the red carpet with one of these lovely ensembles.

I marched, now what?

At 5:45 am, Saturday morning, I laid awake in bed, staring at the ceiling. My body was apparently ready to get going. So, that’s what I did. I got up and made my way to Baltimore’s Pennsylvania Station to board the MARC train to Union Station with 6 other friends. Three of them brand new to me that morning. We stood outside in the dreary rain mist for two and a half hours waiting to board a train. Continue reading “I marched, now what?”

Saturday Brunch: Fried Chicken & Waffles

I’ll be honest, before a few years ago, I had never tasted fried chicken and waffles. I remember hearing about it and thinking that it was a very odd combination. Then, I attempted my first stab at the southern dish via Bobby Flay. After that, I tried a few restaurant versions and determined to create my own twist on the classic. Glutton for Punishment: 10 Things I Want from the Anthropologie Fall Collection

Oh Anthropologie, the store I love to hate, but would hate to live without. It never fails that I find something that I love and immediately wish to own when I visit an Anthropologie store. Whether or not I can afford it at that moment in time is a different story. This fall, this glorious election year, panic attack, mind blowing fall, I am craving gem tones, lush velvets, and deep browns to carry me through. My muse is a fictional 1960s socialite who lives in a rich urban cultural center and spends a lot of time on a college campus. Think, The Graduate’s Mrs. Robinson meets Jackie O meets Mary Tyler Moore. On Monday, I will be starting a new job that will actually be on a major university’s campus, so I am thrilled to plunge my sartorial choices into the retro coed hemisphere.
