Organic by John Patrick Spring 2014 RTW

This collections exudes ease. With its oversized, relaxed shapes, and cool earth tones, it reminds me of every Saturday I wish I had. The bronze pieces are my favorites. They look polished, yet understated and so “Oh this? I just threw this on.” Casual and elegant. It’s how I hope to dress one day when I grow up become rich.

Erin Fetherston Spring 2014 RTW

If you’re 16 years old and looking for a junior prom dress, this is the collection for you. If you’re a high school student of indeterminate age and you’re looking for a dress to wear to whatever high school dance functions you kids have now-a-days, this is the collection for you. Anyone else: this is not the collection for you. Was this part of a reject reel from Crazy/Beautiful? I. Can’t. Even.

The website has some awesome, grown up dresses on it, but this Spring collection is something I outgrew when I turned 17. Thanksbutnothanks.

Creatures of the Wind Spring 2014 RTW

This collection reminded me of the clothes you find at thrift stores and you kind of like them, but are not sure whether or not you can pull it off or if you even want to pull it off. It’s the kind of collection that has all the clothes that the “we’re too cool to even want to be cool” kids wear. Meh, I’ll take a classic pencil skirt or floral Zac Posen dress any day over this, but that’s just me.

Robert Rodriguez Spring 2014 RTW

What’s not to love about Robert Rodriguez? He makes women look hot and sexy. I don’t think anything else needs to be said. This collection had a futuristic look with a lot of hard angles, exaggerated silhouettes, and minimal color. It’s not the most vibrant Spring collection, but it doesn’t have to be.

Whit Spring 2013 RTW

I’ll admit, I was not up to snuff on Whit. But, after seeing the Spring RTW collection, I went over to their website and I am a fan. The Fall 2013 collection is superb. It includes everything that you would want to wear to work, that awkward first date, drinks with the girls, and that even more awkward dinner at his parents house. You really can’t go wrong with Whit. The fun, vibrant prints and colors of the Spring collection make you feel transformed to a tropical beach, coconut drink in hand.

ZAC Zac Posen 2014 Spring RTW

After looking through the Zac Posen Spring collection, I immediately felt like I had just gotten back from 1940s Cuba. The silhouettes are womanly and grown up. The model is drop dead gorgeous and her Veronica Lake curls are perfect. I want to know who did the make up for this photo shoot, because it is amazing. I want to purchase it all. I will gladly trade my Jeep Liberty for this collection in its entirety. Serious inquiries only.

2013 Style Awards

Alright peeps, what are your plans for Saturday night? Are you going to the club? Hitting up a new bar to try out the latest $10 cocktail? Well, have fun with that. I will be watching CNN. Yep, that’s right. The Style Awards are being broadcast on CNN, cause it’s not like we have a Style Network or anything…

Anyway, at 7pm Eastern time/4pm Pacific, you can tune in to CNN and catch a glimpse of the style makers and shakers that are being honored this year. Nicole Ritchie is the host and she showed up looking good. Well done Ritchie, well done.

Wardrobe Envy: Kerry Washington, Scandal

So, if you know me personally you know that I LOVE ABC’s Scandal. I was never a big Grey’s Anatomy fan. I have actually never watched an episode in my entire life, despite the fact that my former roommates used to have viewing parties for the premiere of the newest Grey’s episode. I must have been eating pizza or refusing to do a headstand in yoga class during those evenings. I’ve also never watched Private Practice, unless you count those few nights when an episode comes on after the late night news and I haven’t quite fallen asleep yet. Needless to say, Scandal was my first foray into Shondaland. I may have purchased my ticket skeptically, but you will have to pry the stub from my cold, clenched, dead hands. I am never leaving and you couldn’t make me if you wanted to. Now, love her or hate her, or get extremely irritated with her, Olivia Pope has a wardrobe most female Washingtonians would give up a lifetime Metro pass for. The only thing I don’t understand is how she can drink so much red wine and wear so much beige, white, and taupe, but never get a drop on her…..she clearly is a professional. October 3rd can’t get here fast enough.jacket and dress

Top 10 Items for Fall

So, fall is only a hop, skip, and flask of bourbon away and I, for one, can’t wait! I haven’t been this excited for fall in a long time. I think it’s because of all the cool trends that I am dying to try. And I’m not waiting for some ultra fancy invitation to come floating my way before I try out some of these trends. You just may see me wandering around the Whole Foods in leather leggings and peep-toe booties. Don’t mind me….I’m just being fabulous. Here are my top ten lust-worthy items for fall, in no particular order:

1) Jumpsuit- I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it.

Image

2 ) Peep-toe booties- Because, of course.

Image

3) Leather leggings- Obviously in the fall I become a badass.

Image 4) Burgundy lipstick

5) High-waist trousers. I can’t wait to channel Marlene Dietrich with this trend.

Image

6) Leather hooded jacket. I have wanted this particular item for TWO years now! It’s gotta happen this year….hopefully.

Image

7) Platform ankle strap heels-I’ll probably just end up getting them in black, but wouldn’t a rich jewel tone be awesome? Ruby, emerald, sapphire?
Oh, be still my beating heart!

Image

8) Silk Blouse- Pair one of these blouses with a pair of high-waisted pants and the platform heels for an instant 1930’s starlet vibe. Wear the blouse with some leather leggings, peep-toe booties and a moto jacket and you’ve got Downtown Chic. It’s a win-win.

9. Wool Sheath. In my dreams I’m a boardroom maven. Ready to rock corporate America and bring it to its knees.

Image

10) Platform Loafer Heels- These can be paired with the high waist trousers, jumpsuit, a sheath, dark trouser jeans…etc, etc; the combinations are endless!

ImageOkay, now who is going to sponsor me so that I can afford all of these wonderous things?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Wardrobe Envy: Allison Williams, Girls

Just in time for fall, I bring you your workplace inspiration for that first week with a chill in the air. In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t had access to a television or the internet, Allison Williams plays Marni on Girls. She is the type A, stick up her ass counter part to Lena Dunham’s free wheeling, care free Hannah. For much of the previous two seasons, Marni worked at an art gallery. Thus the majority of her wardrobe includes solid colors, classic sheaths, and conservative jewelry. Obviously I was a WASPy YUPPY in my previous life because I love her wardrobe and I really just want to raid her closet and roll around in all the soft, soft wool and cotton.
