Lily Collins shows young Hollywood how to DO BETTER

Remember when a young, adorable Lily Collins was doing press to promote Mirror, Mirror? Yea, me neither. I was way too busy lusting after Chris Hemsworth in Snow White and the Huntsman. But! I did look back at some pictures recently and I gotta hand it to Lily, she has quickly become one to watch on the red carpet.

Here are six of Lily’s recent breathtaking looks as she promotes The Mortal Instruments:

1.) She goes full-on glam at the Los Angeles premiere. She wore a  sexy white Cushnie et Ochs midi dress with bodice cut-outs and finished the look with a pair of white Giuseppe Zanotti pumps.

2.) She was a vision in black at the Germany premiere. The actress wore a sleeveless Paper London crop top and black floor-length Halston Heritage tulip skirt. She smartly paired the ensemble with a gold, chain link necklace and gold arm cuff.

3.) Lily looks refreshing, with a natural make-up look, at the Toronto premiere wearing a long-sleeved ivory lace Houghton column with an open back.

4.) Hey, you vampy vixon you! For an appearance at Fox 29’s ‘Good Day’ she showed up in a Maxime Simoëns  look, paired with wicked Christian Louboutin over-the-knee black leather boots.

5.) Her most girlish look was for a stop at Good Morning America where she went pollyanna cute in a white pleated Valentino dress and black and nude lace Jimmy Choos.

6.) And my absolute favorite look that the fine Miss Lily Collins has worn, in this mad globe trotting promotion tour, is……….a shimmering knit top and pencil skirt by Bec & Bridge, paired with Christian Louboutin pumps. And of course she-expertly- topped the look with a chunky gold chain necklace from Pomellato.

Doesn’t she make you just want to tear down your closet, burn it to the ground and start over? Here’s how you can get her hot shimmery number on the cheap:

VINCE is just as sick of all the sunshine and happiness as you are

When I looked at the VINCE Fall 2013 collection I immediately thought, Now here’s a designer who gets me. Who understands that one of my dreams is to look like  a cast extra from 2002’s Minority ReportDo you remember that movie? I love it. Everything is dark and somber and the days all have a grayish overtone. I imagine it’s like living in London.

Fall usually brings about the subdued colors and deeper, richer tones of brown, gray, burgundy, and emerald. There’s an understated luxury to the fall collections. I, for one, cannot wait for the days to get colder, nights to get crisper, and the kiddies to get the hell out of the streets. Go back to school already, you crazy whippersnappers!

Lily Collins stepped out in this head turning number recently and made me mourn the loss of my animal print Steve Madden peep-toe pumps. She’s also giving me serious inspiration for letting my eyebrows grow in thicker….hmmmm

Tassles, The Color Pink, Tom Ford and You

Tom Ford’s Spring 2014 Men’s collection was, shall I say, vibrant. Fella’s better start watching those calories, cause Tom’s new spring collection is FORM FITTING. I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to menswear, but I did have some favorites from Tom’s collection:

The man knows how to cut a suit! You can peruse the rest of the collection here.

Wardrobe Envy: House of Cards

Robin Wright is a gorgeous lady. And her character on House of Cards dresses as sharp as a tack. It may be a little too St. John for some of you, but I implore you to look again and stay awhile. Claire Underwood is fierce. Chick can rock a cropped do.

Get this look: Olivia Wilde

When Olivia Wilde stepped out at the Drinking Buddies premiere she was rocking the laid back, downtown look that everybody so desperately wants to emulate. Her vintage tee, asymmetrical skirt, and bold metal cuff bracelet made her look sexy and classy.

This outfit is just further proof that we should be best friends.  Seriously, as soon as I finished reading this article, I thought to myself, How have we not become besties yet? What’s a girl gotta do to get a famous best friend? Whose weave do I need to fix? I’m really good at making snarky comments and dramatic faces. Put me in coach, put me in!

Whenever you find yourself staring blankly at your closet, wondering what you’re going to wear out, let this outfit offer some inspiration. Get out of the skinny jeans, high heels, sparkly top rut and try these alternatives:

Reception graphic tee $85
Witchery asymmetrical leather skirt $230
DVF heels $398
Bernard Delettrez cuff $1,820

Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer collection and my ovaries go on a date

It’s no secret I love a well dressed man. What’s not to love? A well fitted suit, the perfect pair of jeans, a great shawl collared sweater…it all looks good. Luckily for me, Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection checks off all of those looks and more. Prepare yourselves and gird your loins.

Wardrobe Envy: Mad Men

The women of Mad Men have some of the best wardrobes on television. From Betty Draper’s prim and proper, impeccably fitted dresses and twin sets to Jane’s figure hugging pencil skirts and sheaths, Mad Men knows style. There’s no doubt that I am merely a speck of sand in the sea of fans who would love to snatch the wardrobe closet key and wander through the racks of clothing. Now I don’t know where you are season-wise or how many episodes on Netflix you need to catch up on…you go to work, I know. So, I’m just going to assume you’ve watched the latest two seasons and know what I mean when I say I want to dance around in Megan Draper‘s closet and sing Zou Zou Bisou. Don’t kill my dream man.

Wardrobe Envy: The Fall

Have you seen this show? If not, put down that book, pick up your nearest Netflix ready device and plan not to move for the next 6 hours.

Oh, and prepare to start coveting Gillian Anderson’s wardrobe as police investigator, Stella Gibson, right about now.

Real World How-To:

Style Inspiration: Bold Lips

Something about the summer brings out the extrovert in all of us. Is it the hotter temperatures that brings out our inner exhibitionist? All of a sudden sweet and innocent Mary Sue is trading in her cotton chinos and slipping into a sheer crop top with high waisted shorts. No one saw it coming. Take a look down the street. Skirts get shorter. Tops quickly move through the phases of opaque to sheer. Walk through a local boutique and you’ll notice that every dress or shirt is backless, with cut outs on each side. Now, while I do enjoy a nice backless dress/shirt as much as the next gal, it can be a little intimidating to go from zero to naked. However, you don’t have to sit the summer out and hide your inner, bolder, you. Take a walk down the nearest drug store make-up aisle and you’ll see another summer trend-bold lip colors.  It’s an affordable way to shake up your normal, everyday look.  Bonus: you can wear this look to work and save your cropped tops and flowy mini skirts for that weekend festival.
